British Shorthair & British Longhair Kittens in Chicago

Chicago searches for kittens in Chicago as much as any city in America, and British Shorthair kittens in Chicago are near the top of the list. CatKing Cattery raises them in Toronto, golden shaded and point colour, from champion lines, and delivers across Chicagoland: Naperville, Evanston, Oak Brook, Schaumburg and the city neighbourhoods from Lincoln Park to Hyde Park.

Questions Chicago Families Ask Us

Chicago families tend to ask the same handful of questions before they reserve. Here are our answers.

Why buy from a Toronto cattery?

Because of the file, not the map. CatKing is registered with TICA, CFA & WCF, incorporated in Ontario, and our cats are titled at international shows. Parents are genetically tested, and every kitten carries lifetime breed-related genetic disease protection. One arranged flight brings that standard to Chicago.

What does my kitten come with?

Two veterinary health exams, two FVRCP core vaccines, internal and external deworming, TICA registration and 30 days of pet insurance, plus lifelong breeder support.

How does delivery work?

We arrange the flight to Chicago and coordinate the handover with you. Photo and video updates follow your kitten from reservation until go-home day.

Can I pick a colour?

Yes. Golden shaded, blue golden shaded and lilac golden shaded are our core colours, with blue-eyed point colour kittens in select litters. Waitlist families choose first.

A Cat for Chicago Winters

Lake effect snow is a spectator sport for a British Shorthair: thick double coat, total indoor contentment and a talent for claiming the warmest seat in the house. The breed is calm and companionable in a Gold Coast high-rise or a suburban family home alike, good with children and unhurried about everything except dinner. The Longhair version needs a few short brushing sessions a week; the Shorthair, one.

Reserving

Reserving begins with our Available Kittens: if a kitten there is the one, reserve that kitten directly. If none is available, or none fits your family, join the waitlist for a future litter with a $500 CAD plus tax deposit ($565 CAD); waitlist families choose first from upcoming litters, before public listing. A signed contract and 50 percent deposit hold the kitten you choose, the balance is due on go-home day, and we arrange the flight to Chicago while photo and video updates follow your kitten's growth.

Your Kitten's First Week in Chicago

Start your kitten in one room, litter, food, water, a scratching post and a soft bed, then open the home gradually. Our kittens are raised underfoot, so a Chicago household, radiators ticking, boots at the door, the L going past, feels normal within days. We send the complete veterinary file, and your Chicago veterinarian can continue the vaccine plan from the first visit. On a winter pickup day, warm the car first; your kitten's dense coat handles the rest.

High-rise and house alike

British cats are among the best apartment cats in the pedigree world: quiet, clean and content indoors, which matters from River North towers to two-flats in Logan Square. Give them a scratching post, a perch by a window over the city or the lake, and short daily play sessions. Grooming is a weekly brush for a Shorthair, a few sessions for a Longhair, and shedding is modest. Landlords and neighbours, notoriously, approve.

Suburban families in Naperville, Evanston and Oak Brook get the same steady cat, plus a breed that travels calmly in the car for vet visits and holidays, provided the carrier is familiar and the routine is kept.

The spay/neuter agreement, in plain terms

Pet kittens go home under our spay and neuter agreement: your own veterinarian performs the procedure before eight months of age, you send us the certificate, and your kitten's TICA registration papers follow. We remind families before the deadline arrives. It is the standard arrangement for pedigree pet placements, and Chicago-area clinics process it as a matter of routine.

That is the offer behind every British Shorthair kitten Chicago families reserve with us: champion lines, a complete veterinary file and a breeder who answers for the life of the cat.
